Ward Melville captured the League 2 Swimming & Diving Championship in easy fashion at Sachem East HS on Thursday, October 27th. The Patriots scored an impressive 433 pts. 2nd place was Sachem North with 306 pts.
A Ward Melville swimmer or relay won every event except the 100 yard backstroke which was won by Sachem North’s Morgan Reitmann(1:02.93) and the 100 yard breaststroke won by Ava Grace Monti from Sachem East who qualified for states with a 1:08.52.
Bella Dimaculangan of Melville also qualified for states in the 200 yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:11.90.
Eva Emmerich(2:05.36) won the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle 5:28.73. Isabel Xu(26.49) won the 50 freestyle, Riley Metz(264.90) won diving.
Jacquline Vinciquerra(1:03.95) won the 100 fly and Abaigeal Higgins(57.42) won the 100 freestyle.
Ward Melville’s 200 medley relay(2:01.76) of Xu, Hannah Lin, Hanna Matheson, and Amy Chen started the meet off.
