Hauppauge-Smithtown Wins County Championship

Congratulations to Hauppauge-Smithtown on capturing their 1st Section XI championship in 36 years!

Smithtown West’s Leigh Treglia paced the way for Hauppauge-Smithtown by winning the 100 yard butterfly(55.78) and 100 yard backstroke(55.32). Hauppauge-Smithtown scored 345 points to win in convincing fashion at Stony Brook University.

Northport-Commack’s Denise Phelan secured her 2nd consecutive Most Outstanding Swimmer Award by winning the 200 yard individual medley with an Automatic All-American time of 2:01.48 and the 100 yard breaststroke also with an Automatic All-American time of 1:00.86 is also a new Suffolk County record. Breaking her one record she set in 2019.

Shoreham’s Emily Herr was also a 2 time winner yesterday. She won the 200 yard freestyle 1:52.33 and 100 yard freestyle 51.96.

Northport-Commack won the 200 Medley relay 1:47.84. Half Hollow Hills won the 200(1:41.05) and 400 yard freestyle(3:37.14) relays.

Port Jeff’s Kate Sommerstad won the 500 yard freestyle(4:59.57) and Sophia Zhao of Half Hollow Hills won the 50 yard freestyle 24.08.
